The Pentagon reported Wednesday that the US has delivered more than half of the 90 howitzer artillery pieces slated for Ukraine, with more on the way.

Over 50 Ukrainian fighters finished training on the M777 howitzer weaponry earlier this week, according to spokesman John Kirby, with another batch of troops anticipated to begin training soon if they haven’t already.

The training took place entirely outside of Ukraine.

When asked about the Russian nuclear bluster, Kirby insisted that Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin “remains confident” that the US has the “appropriate strategic nuclear deterrent posture in place.

According to UN estimates, at least 2,787 people have been killed and 3,152 more injured in Ukraine since the conflict began on February 24. It’s expected that the genuine cost will be significantly greater.

According to the UN refugee agency, 7.7 million people have been internally displaced in Ukraine, with more than 5.3 million migrating to other countries.
