MANILA, Philippines — According to a party-list congressman, the latest Pulse Asia poll, which shows former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte holding their respective presidential and vice-presidential leads, the duo could achieve a “monumental achievement” in the May 9 elections.

Rep. Mike Defensor of the Anakalusugan Party-list believes the Marcos-Duterte ticket will earn more than half of the votes cast, raising the prospect of a “supermajority” victory in the forthcoming elections.

Defensor made the statement in response to the latest Pulse Asia poll, which showed Marcos maintaining a 56 percent vote preference in the presidential election campaign.

Duterte also maintained a large lead as the most popular vice-presidential candidate, with 55 percent of the vote.

“By achieving a supermajority of more than 50% of the vote of the Filipino people, the BBM-Sara tandem is going to produce a monumental feat in our electoral history,” Defensor remarked.

According to Defensor, a likely electoral victory would boost public confidence and support economic recovery in the midst of the pandemic.

“This electoral victory not only reflects the people’s will, but it will also provide much-needed stability and confidence as we work together to repair and grow the economy,” he said.

Hundreds of thousands of BBM-Sara supporters are expected to join the miting de avance rallies this week in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, according to House Majority Leader Martin Romualdez, one of Duterte’s campaign strategists.

The big assemblies bring the 90-day election campaign to a close on Saturday, two days before the combined presidential-congressional-local elections on Monday, according to a Commission on Elections (Comelec) ruling.

‘A resounding victory’

The Visayas miting de avance will be held on Tuesday night at the Guimbal football field in Guimbal, Iloilo, and the Mindanao assembly will be held on Thursday at the Tagum City city hall grounds in Davao del Norte.

The final Luzon rally will take place on Saturday in a parking lot in front of the Solaire Resort in Paranaque City.

“These are the results of our campaign trips across the country. Let me extend our profound thanks on behalf of the candidates to our local supporters, local officials, community and sectoral leaders, and regular Filipinos who have helped and supported us. Let us sustain this momentum going till we win “” Says Romualdez.”

In the miting de avance meetings, Marcos and Duterte will continue to express their message of unity, healing, hope, and patriotism, according to Romualdez.

He advised people to vote early on Monday and to keep their ballots safe throughout the voting and counting process.

“Let us make certain that the electorate’s will triumphs,” Romualdez remarked.

Rida Robes, a representative for San Jose Del Monte, believes the UniTeam duo will win by an “overwhelming margin” since they have the public’s support.

“They will undoubtedly win because they have the public’s support. It’s palpable, and they openly express their support for the Uniteam. More than 80% of voters are expected to cast ballots in this election (in Bulacan). They’ll win by a large margin here “Robes said.
