For medical workers and the elderly, the council suggests a second booster dose.

MANILA – According to the National Vaccination Operations Center (NVOC), the Health Technology Assessment Council (HTAC) has previously suggested a second booster dose for health care workers (A1) and older citizens (A2).

According to NVOC chief and Health Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje during the “Laging Handa” public briefing, the HTAC is just waiting for one more criterion from the World Health Organization (WHO).

“The standards for the second A1 and A2 booster should be published by now,” she continued, “but the WHO has another need.”

Once the WHO gets the go light, health officials will establish recommendations for administering second booster doses for A1 and A2.

The government has begun delivering the second booster shot to immunocompromised adults, totaling 30,912 doses so far.

Adults with human immunodeficiency virus, cancer patients with active or malignant malignancy, organ transplant recipients, and bedridden patients are among those initially covered.
