TESDA aids in the counter-insurgency effort.
CITY OF ILOILO – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) claimed on Wednesday that the training it offered assisted a lot in resolving the country’s socioeconomic problem, which is the main root cause of the communist insurgency.
“The fundamental root cause of communist insurgency is poverty, and what we do at TESDA is training for a living or work,” he remarked during the two-day 1st Guimaras Bamboo Summit, which began on June 7 in the town of Buenavista.
Under the Duterte government, TESDA has trained about 7.1 million Filipinos, who are expected to find work or a source of income, he said.
A job for a recognized TESDA graduate means “one Filipino out of poverty,” according to Lapena.
“We are gradually tackling the issue of poverty, which contributes to or is the primary cause of communist problems or insurrection. “We have contributed to the anti-communist insurgent campaign,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the TESDA executive pledged the agency’s support for the bamboo business, revealing that training regulations for Bamboo Production and Bamboo Processing (Engineered Bamboo), both with National Certificate Level II (NC II) qualifications, had already been prepared.
“These were developed in collaboration with the industry and were designed to provide uniform training and credentials for personnel in the bamboo production and processing industry throughout the country,” he explained.
He went on to say that the training rule comes with budgetary support that can already be distributed around the country.
The bamboo summit was conducted by the CAPMI in collaboration with the Philippine Bamboo Industry Development Council (PBIDC) and the provincial government of Guimaras, with the goal of establishing Guimaras as a key hub for bamboo planting materials in Western Visayas.
Bamboo was also chosen as a priority by the organizers because it may be utilized to mitigate global climate emergencies as well as alleviate poverty in rural areas through the bamboo economics program.
