Pascual of the DTI keeps 5 undersecretaries.
Alfredo Pascual, the new secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), has decreased the number of undersecretaries from seven to five as part of his efforts to restructure the organization.
The updated DTI website states that Pascual has retained Undersecretaries Ceferino Rodolfo for the Group on Industry Development and Trade Policy, Rafaelita Aldaba for the Group on Competitiveness and Innovation, Ruth Castelo for the Group on Consumer Protection, Blesila Lantayona for the Group on Regional Operations, and Ireneo Vizmonte for the Group on Management Services.
The undersecretary positions for Special Concerns and Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa, a livelihood program for disaster-affected micro, small, and medium companies, were eliminated by the incoming trade head.
The restructuring of the DTI, which may require “tweaking of (the) workforce budget,” is one of Pascual’s top five objectives, he has stated.
Pascual challenged DTI staff to “stand up and serve to the best of their abilities” in the upcoming six years as the agency faces numerous challenges in the face of market headwinds on both the domestic and international fronts during his first flag ceremony as DTI Secretary on Monday.
Among these difficulties are the pandemic that is still going on and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which has led to skyrocketing oil costs and inflationary pressure that is aggravating consumers and companies.
But at DTI, we have to approach these difficulties with grit and confidence. I call our DTI colleagues to let’s build on DTI’s ongoing programs and prior triumphs that you have started and carried out over the past several months and years,” he added.
Under his direction, Pascual exhorted agency coworkers to concentrate on the common goals of increasing employment, fostering more sustainable business, empowering consumers, and assisting in lifting families out of poverty.
Together, let’s provide quick fixes for our people’s issues while focusing on long-term answers to our difficulties with national growth, he said.
