PBBM is praised for giving the Bangsamoro peace process priority.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. deserves praise for making the Bangsamoro peace process a “top priority,” according to Presidential Peace Adviser Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr.

This came after Marcos, on Friday at Malacanang Palace in Manila, swore in new members of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA), the temporary administration of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

Galvez congratulated Marcos for his determination to push through with efforts to promote peace in the nation.

“On this occasion, the President shows that he would keep his pledge and fully commit to advancing the Bangsamoro peace process. In a speech given during the oath-taking ceremony, he remarked, “We would like to thank you, His Excellency, for making the Bangsamoro peace process a major priority of the national government.

Galvez stated that Marcos’ dedication to fostering national unity is reflected in the appointments of the new BTA members.

He claimed that Marcos’ peace agenda “underlines how crucial it is for all people to have equal representation in government.

He replied, “Under your government, under the banner of unification, we are reaching out to all those who have renounced armed revolt and are now walking the path of peace. No one should be left behind in the peacebuilding and development process, as you have stressed, Mr. President. Everyone must participate and gain from the benefits of peace and economic prosperity.

The founding of BARMM and the foundation of the BTA were made possible by the plebiscite that resulted in Republic Act (RA) 11054, often known as the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL), being approved.

The BTA is a governing body entrusted with passing important legislation to operationalize the BOL and exercise legislative and executive functions during the region’s transition period. The BTA is made up of 80 members who are nominated by the President.

Without affecting the involvement of the Moro National Liberation Front, the BTA will be led by the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) under the BOL (MNLF).

The MILF will propose 41 candidates for the BTA, while the Philippine government will support 39 candidates.

According to Galvez, the MILF and MNLF’s involvement in the new BTA composition represents their desire to uphold peace and development in the BARMM.

The MNLF and the MILF have been at odds for a while, but under your (Marcos) government, they are working together to promote lasting peace and development in the Bangsamoro, he claimed.

Galvez expressed hope for “a more peaceful atmosphere, expanding the area’s economic potential, and enhancing the lives of the region’s variety” after seeing the BARMM transform under the MILF’s direction.

In order to ensure that all signed Bangsamoro peace agreements are fully implemented by 2025, he stated, the OPAPRU (Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity) would keep regular contact with the BTA as well as its local, national, and international partners.

Marcos highlighted the BTA’s critical contribution to the promotion of peace and development in BARMM during his keynote address.

He also stressed the significance of paying attention to Bangsamoro people’s worries.

“I have seen the list of the new appointments and members, and I am certain that everyone has come to be a part of this process with a true desire to bring the BARMM back into the mainstream of life in the Philippines, Marcos remarked.
