Masks should be worn indefinitely: DOH.
Wearing face masks is still the best approach to protect yourself from the coronavirus disease, according to the Department of Health, whether or not it is required (Covid-19).
The Inter-Agency Task Force for Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) Resolution Number 1, series of 2022 has been presented for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to review, according to DOH officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire in a Viber message to reporters.
The DOH wants us to keep masking, but various other statistics were offered that contributed to this decision, she said.
“We have to strike a balance between health and economy, and this will be done among low-risk persons and in low-risk circumstances,” the statement continued.
Vergeire classified low-risk people as people under age 65, without concomitant conditions, without children, and without Covid-19 signs.
Outdoor locations that are not too crowded and have excellent ventilation are low-risk environments.
The DOH cited the various advantages of this practice, saying that wearing face masks protects the elderly and those with comorbidities from Covid-19 and stops the spread of coughs and colds.
Senator Christopher Lawrence Go is pushing people to continue wearing face masks despite calls for the rule to be lifted in public areas.
“I think we are disciplined, naniwala ako na mas disiplinado tayo, pwede naman magmask kung hindi uncomfortable sa atin, mag face mask na lang po tayo,” the speaker said. Let us wear a face mask if we can do so without feeling uncomfortable),” he told reporters on Thursday during his visit to Pangasinan.
Go claimed that the coronavirus disease of 2019 (Covid-19) remains a hazard, particularly to those with impaired immune systems.
Hanggat nandyan ang Covid dahil ito nakikita, delikado pa rin kaya bakit di na lang natin antayin na tuluyang maglaho at maabot ang herd immunity at di na tatalab saka completely matanggal na. (There is still danger as long as Covid-19 is there since it cannot be seen.) Why not just wait a little while longer for it to completely go, at which point we would achieve herd immunity, ensuring that it won’t effect us anymore? he asked.
Go asserted that he would back whatever policy the federal government chose to adopt.
“Whatever the government chooses signifies that it was thoroughly researched and is supported by sound science. We might just gradually get used to it, he continued.
Go also asked people to adhere to the minimal public health requirements to stop a new Covid-19 outbreak.
