On the first day of the Special Vaccination Week, the Department of Health (DOH) gave 66,576 initial booster doses of the Covid-19 vaccine in the Visayas and Mindanao.

The week of vaccinations began on September 26.

There was bad weather in other areas of the Visayas as well, thus some locations were unable to push through with immunization, DOH officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire stated in a press conference.

However, she continued, “We were still able to reach 66,576, and we thank all the local government units (LGUs) in the Visayas and Mindanao who assisted us during these special vaccination days.

Vergeire made it clear that because the LGUs had vaccinations stocked in their warehouses, there were no “additional” Covid-19 shots given to them.

Covid-19 vaccinations are in sufficient supplies across the board, she claimed.

Typhoon Karding forced the Luzon campaign to be postponed, so the extra vaccine days will be extended until October 1 to make up for this.

The DOH advised that the vaccination program continues on September 27 “at the discretion of the concerned regional directors in coordination with the LGU counterparts,” according to Department Memorandum No. 2022-0420.

Out of the 1.07 million seniors the PinasLakas Campaign aimed to immunize as of September 22, 38,691 had already received the vaccine.

Of the 23 million people who have received their full vaccinations, 2,933,208 have received their first booster doses.

Nationwide, there are 19,283 PinasLakas immunization locations.
