To determine potential price modifications for these seasonal products, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) stated that it is still reviewing the applications submitted by manufacturers of Noche Buena goods.

DTI Assistant Secretary Ann Claire Cabochan stated during the Laging Handa public briefing on Tuesday that the department is closely coordinating with the manufacturers over the supply and costs of goods for the impending Christmas holiday.

To maintain the affordability of Noche Buena items for Filipino consumers, Cabochan said the DTI had asked the manufacturers to limit their price rises despite growing oil and shipping costs as well as the depreciation of the peso.

“We are working very closely with the manufacturers to ensure that any rises that result from, you know, madaming variables (increases due to many sources), such as oil prices, transportation costs, and the like, even foreign exchange, are moderated. And if we can ask them as we have in the past, some producers do not change the prices of their goods, she added.

Cabochan stated that the DTI would soon release the suggested retail price (SRP) bulletin for Noche Buena products and that all “applications are being evaluated at this time.”

Additionally, she promised a plentiful supply of Noche Buena items for the upcoming holiday season.
