SMEs in Central Luzon are boosted by an innovation conference

Through cooperative innovations, small and medium-sized firms (SMEs) in Central Luzon have received a significant boost in modernizing their operations.

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), along with other stakeholders, offered the SMEs a forum that ties them to various tactics in elevating their operations through the 2022 THRIVE Central Luzon Innovation Summit.

During the summit at The Orchids Garden in this city, DOST Regional Director Julius Caesar Sicat stated that the event’s goal was to make it possible for interested business owners to match, adopt, or commercialize locally developed innovations and technologies from Research and Development (R&D) institutions.

He underlined the crucial role that SMEs play in the economy of the nation.

Sicat emphasized the significance of connections between SMEs, higher educational institutions (HEIs), and government organizations for equitable and sustainable growth by saying, “You are the backbone of the economy.”

“Let’s keep working to achieve our goal of a vibrant Central Luzon, a place for creativity to pool together and address problems where a multi-challenges strategy will allow us to utilize the individual talents and capacities of each player. To allow innovations to fill in the gaps and weaknesses of one another,” he remarked during the live-streamed event.

In the meantime, to promote its innovations and draw in more technology users, Central Luzon State University (CLSUUniversity )’s Extension Center brought the results of R&D initiatives to the summit.

The Andali Rapid Test Kits, Lepton-site, AnthracKnows, Choco Goat’s Milk, and Nutribar are a few examples of these developments.

These inventions were created to meet local and national demands in all facets of growth and development with the DOST as an active partner of the CLSU in R&D activities.

32 SMEs from the area were honored during the event for their dedication to forming collaborations with HEIs and R&D Institutes.

According to Sicat, this interaction will improve the SME-HEI partnership and link it with the goals of the THRIVE Central Luzon Innovation Summit.

The celebration of National Science and Technology Week, which takes place from November 29 to December 1, 2022, includes the event.
