180K PUV operators receive a P1.17-B gasoline subsidy from the LTFRB.

MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board has already given over 180,000 public utility vehicle (PUV) operators their one-time fuel subsidy (LTFRB).

The LTFRB stated in a statement on Friday that as of June 1, a total of PHP1,170,396,500 had been paid to 180,061 PUV operators, with each getting PHP6,500 via a cash card.

A total of 84,157 PUV owners have yet to get their government subsidies.

The Landbank of the Philippines is processing 57,841 recipients for urgent remittance out of those who have yet to receive the cash grant, according to the report.

“Ang naiwang balanse naman ay patuloy pang ginagawan ng ATM card ng nasabing banko,” it said.

Meanwhile, the LTFRB said that the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) fuel subsidy program for delivery services has attracted 12,965 beneficiaries, with 9,552 receiving cash grants.

The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has yet to submit a list of tricycle drivers for the subsidy scheme, according to the report.

The fuel subsidy program is a cooperative government operation led by the LTFRB and the Department of Transportation that helps public transportation deal with the effects of rising gasoline prices and other commodities.
