The Commission on Elections (Comelec) stated on Tuesday that the inaugural National Election Summit will now take place in March.

The poll summit was postponed, according to Comelec Chair George Erwin Garcia, from its initial timetable set for the last week of January.

He said that we will meet with our officials in the main and field offices to discuss plans for the election summit in March.

The poll summit’s chief organizer, Commissioner Nelson Celis, stated that the dates are March 8 through March 10.

He pointed out that the summit’s date was changed so that the special elections in Cavite’s seventh parliamentary district on February 25 could take place.

We’ll only advance by roughly a month, according to Celis, “to make room for the special elections in Cavite on February 25.”

He continued by saying that 26 pre-summit events have already been held since October 2022.

The full adoption of the digital signature and the potential use of blockchain technology, among other topics, have been discussed so far in relation to the elections of 2025, according to Celis.

The goal of the election summit is to offer a forum for national discussion, interaction, consultation, and involvement of election stakeholders in the assessment, creation, or refinement of policies, strategies, and programs in election administration and electoral enforcement, and adjudication.

The Comelec en banc will approve the summit’s recommendations for consideration.
