Tom Manger, the chief of the US Capitol Police, issued a warning that a new riot, akin to the one that occurred on January 6, 2021, might break out.

An attack similar to the one that our Department experienced on January 6, 2021, could be tried again, according to a statement from Manger.

We’ll be ready if the unthinkable occurs, he declared.

Over 100 important enhancements have been made, according to Manger, by the US Capitol Police (USCP), in the past two years.

These, according to him, include the following: “the USCP has created solid connections with dozens of law enforcement agencies in and around the Washington, D.C. area; planning for demonstrations and big events now requires the production of detailed Incident Action Plans.”

Manger added that there was still work to be done, adding that “Congress approved legislation to assure the USCP Chief can unilaterally proclaim a state of emergency and call upon the National Guard.”

Following Trump’s assertion that the results of the 2020 presidential election were invalid due to voter fraud, a sizable contingent of former US President Donald Trump’s supporters stormed the Capitol building on January 6, 2021, in an effort to prevent lawmakers from certifying the results of the election. In relation to the riots, at least five individuals died.

The British army destroyed the structure and other sites in the War of 1812, but the January 6 siege was the largest assault on the US Capitol since those events.

Due to the incident, Trump was twice impeached by the Democratic-controlled House, which charged the president with instigating an uprising.

A congressional investigation into the riots as well as numerous charges of alleged participants resulted from the unrest.
