Sampaguita industry initiative developed by DOST and state university

A research initiative being developed by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU) could help the sampaguita sector in this province grow.
The exploration of additional goods that could be commercialized utilizing the sampaguita flower was the topic of a meeting between Vice Governor Lilia Pineda and representatives of the DOST and PSAU on Monday.
The deputy governor received Sampaguita tea, which is one of the potential goods. She said in a statement on Tuesday that Governor Dennis Pineda completely supports the research and effort that might give the province’s national flower growers more money.
The vice governor declared, “There are more Kapampangans who stand to gain from the livelihood programs that might be developed from the project. Mas maraming Kapampangan pa ang makinabang sa mga livelihood programs na pwedeng magawa rito.”
The communities of Lubao, Guagua, and Floridablanca are thriving centers of sampaguita.
The Pampanga provincial government has been working with the DOST, Department of Trade and Business (DTI), and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to support the sampaguita industry financially and through training since 2017.
According to Pineda, the provincial government helped the disadvantaged farmers pay for planting costs, including the cost of pesticides and fertilizers that could increase the sampaguita’s output.
