Giant twin cakes will be shown at the Strawberry Festival in Benguet.
The 2023 Strawberry Festival in this provincial capital of Benguet is anticipated to feature a large double strawberry shortcake as its centerpiece.
After a three-year break caused by the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic, Mayor Romeo Salda announced in an interview on Tuesday that the festival is set to take place from March 6 to 31 this year.
The festival was suspended in the town between 2020 and 2022, but Thanksgiving festivities persisted.
This town has the Guinness World Record for the largest strawberry shortcake, which was served to more than 10,000 people and weighed 9,622.24 kilos in 2004.
The mayor announced that, despite their plans to bake a massive cake for locals and visitors to chow down on, they will not attempt to top their 2004 record.
He declared, “We still retain the record, and we have no plans to break our record.
