DOH investigates data gathering and case management for “long Covid” cases.

A health official stated on Tuesday that the Department of Health (DOH) is researching how it can handle instances and gather information about patients who endure “long Covid.”

The World Health Organization defines protracted Covid as the continuation or emergence of additional symptoms three months after the original SARS-CoV-2 infection, which may endure for at least two months without any other explanation, according to DOH officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire.

Since patients aren’t actually reporting their problems after having lengthy Covid, she remarked, “Wala ho tayong (We don’t have) database for long Covid because it is pretty impossible for us to achieve that as of now.”

“Though we now have a minor study underway, this is being carried out by the University of the Philippines [UP], but the institutional organization that is pangmalawakan wala pa ho tayong nagagawa. As I’ve indicated, there is a limitation, but we don’t have it for institutional use yet.

According to the DOH, “it might be any symptom an individual has after Covid-19” and that “symptom could also be a symptom of the disease a patient may have previously had prior to Covid-19 infection.”

Over 200 various symptoms associated with long-term COVIDS might affect daily functioning, including exhaustion, shortness of breath, cognitive problems, and many others.

It can be avoided by getting vaccinated, using masks that fit properly, washing your hands frequently, keeping a social distance, and making sure that interior rooms have adequate ventilation.

So that we can be able to gather the data and handle these people, Vergeire stated, “pag-aaralan ito nga ating Department of Health, kasalukuyan nagko-konsulta na tayo sa mga eksperto para ‘yung definition ang unang-una nating pagtatrabahuhan.”

There have been 65,851 deaths so far and 4,073,826 cases overall in the nation.

A total of 73,960,026 people have gotten both the initial and booster doses of the vaccine, while 21,390,548 have done so.
