At least 550 local leaders from the 50 communities surrounding Camalig town in the province of Albay got financial rewards on Friday thanks to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

Barangay chairpersons, councilmen (kagawad), secretaries, treasurers, and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) leaders earned PHP3,000 each for a total of PHP1.6 million, according to Tim Florece, the local government unit’s spokesperson.

“The Office of the Deputy Executive Secretary for Finance and Administration (within the Office of the President) gave cash rewards to barangay authorities in Camalig, Albay. The City Treasurer’s Office coordinated the distribution of the incentives, “Florece stated in a conversation.

He pointed out that the mayor of Camalig, Carlos Irwin G. Baldo Jr., had declared his intention to participate in the program offering incentives to village authorities in January.

The distribution of financial incentives “is also consistent with the directives under the Mayor Baldo’s 12-point executive agenda, which seek to recognize and reward barangay officials for being at the forefront of providing public service at the grassroots level,” Florece added.
