🎓 Education Remains Top Priority of Marcos Admin 👨‍🎓, Says Budget Chief 💼

Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman affirmed on Saturday that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s administration is dedicated to enhancing the country’s education quality. She provided this assurance during her address to the 888 new graduates at the 81st commencement exercises of Leyte Normal University (LNU) in Tacloban City.

Pangandaman highlighted that the 2023 national budget, under the Marcos administration, has allocated the highest budget amount of PHP909.1 billion to the education, culture, and manpower development sector. She specified that the budget includes provisions for basic education inputs, education assistance, subsidies, universal access to quality tertiary education, and basic education facilities programs.

She emphasized the administration’s commitment to assign the highest budgetary priority to education by the constitutional mandate and the President’s directive to empower the youth.

Pangandaman stated that the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), her office, meticulously crafts the national budget to address the immediate needs and pressing concerns of all Filipinos, ensuring it is responsive to the current situation.

Education will continue to receive a substantial portion of the budget, enabling Filipino learners to access improved learning tools and equipment.

“We will strive to continuously give high value to the education sector because we believe in the capabilities and contributions of the youth in nation-building. Thus, we will not deprive the youth of opportunities to learn and develop their skills,” Pangandaman expressed to the graduates of LNU’s College of Education, College of Arts and Sciences, and College of Management and Entrepreneurship.

The budget chief urged the graduates to actively participate and cooperate in fulfilling the government’s mission of bringing progress and development to the country.

“To the LNU graduates of 2023, as you pursue your individual goals, I urge you to participate and contribute to our national commitment. The country needs you,” she urged.

“Join us in our crusade towards a better Philippines as we envision a nation where Filipinos can thrive, progress, and pursue their dreams.”
