Several churches expressed their congratulations and well wishes on the elevation of the Archdiocesan Shrine of the Black Nazarene, also known as Quiapo Church, to the status of a national shrine. Sepulcro Parish all extended their heartfelt messages to Quiapo Church, acknowledging the unwavering faith of the Catholic faithful in the country. They highlighted the significance of the Black Nazarene and Our Lady of Antipolo as revered and celebrated images in the Philippines. The churches expressed unity in prayer and jubilation for Quiapo Church’s remarkable achievement.

The Quiapo Church, in response, expressed eternal gratitude for the recognition it has received. The church acknowledged that everything is a blessing from God and thanked the community of Quiapo, the devotees of the Lord Jesus Nazarene, and the members of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines for declaring the Basilica Minor and Archdiocesan Shrine of the Black Nazarene as a National Heritage. The post on their Facebook page conveyed a sense of honor and reverence for this milestone.

During the 126th plenary assembly of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines in Kalibo, Aklan, the elevation of Quiapo Church to national shrine status was officially approved. Manila Archbishop Cardinal Jose Advincula’s petition to declare the church as the National Shrine of the Black Nazarene was granted. This marks the 29th national shrine in the country. Quiapo Church holds great significance during its feast on January 9, attracting millions of devotees and hosting the renowned “Traslacion” procession, one of the most attended celebrations in the Philippines.
