Covid-19 vaccination will be increased among 4Ps recipients by Antique.
The province inter-agency task force (IATF) on coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in Antique has asked the provincial link of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) to help promote the vaccine program among 4Ps beneficiaries.
Antique Governor Rhodora Cadiao said in an interview on Tuesday that she has asked the 4Ps personnel to come up with measures to increase Covid-19 vaccination among beneficiaries, given the poor turnout in their sector.
“In terms of Covid-9 vaccine, we need to reach the lowest of the poor,” she stated.
During the IATF virtual conference on November 15, the governor highlighted similar concerns.
During the meeting, Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) Health Officer I Dr. Leoncio Abiera, Jr. stated that only 27% of the 55,872 target population in Antique received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, while 10% or 5,528 people were fully vaccinated.
Pantawid Provincial Link Jeffrey Gabucay said that they are currently prioritizing the distribution of financial grants to those who have already been vaccinated.
“As a method of segregating them,” he explained, “we let those who had been vaccinated obtain their financial grant ahead of those who had not been vaccinated yet.”
According to him, as of November 9, about 4,339 Pantawid beneficiaries have been immunized.
“We’re still getting more information about the Covid-19-vaccinated Pantawid beneficiaries,” he said.
In the province, there are 27,661 Pantawid beneficiaries, according to him.
He also informed the IATF that he would provide an update on the number of Pantawid beneficiaries who have been vaccinated.
“We’re still waiting for a memorandum from our central office,” he added, adding that the Covid-19 immunization isn’t a requirement for receiving the monetary grant.
Gabucay stated that they cannot implement mandatory Covid-19 vaccination without a memorandum from their central office.
