MSMEs from Soccsksargen made P35 million in sales at a trade show.
During a week-long trade fair here organized by the Department of Trade and Industry, MSMEs from various parts of Region 12 (Soccsksargen) earned around PHP35 million in sales (DTI).
The figure was based on the reported cash, booked, and under negotiation sales generated by the 24 MSMEs who participated in the Yaman Dose Trade Expo from Nov. 15 to 21 at the SM mall atrium, according to Jude Constantine Jaugan, DTI Region 12 director.
He told reporters, “The recorded sales exceeded our original target of PHP10 million by 250 percent.”
The trade show, dubbed “Best of Soccsksargen,” featured over 500 new and improved products from MSMEs across the region, particularly those supported by the agency’s various support programs.
Fashion bags and accessories, banana chips, coffee, various processed fruits, processed aquamarine, face masks, face mask holder, embroidered shirts, personal protective equipment, tote bags, Tnalak bags, and other items were among those on display.
They provided guidance and related interventions, according to Jaugan, in order to make the products market-ready, especially on a larger scale.
Thousands of buyers visited the participating MSMEs’ booths during the fair, he said, and there was a special setup display for over 50 products from those supported by their business development programs.
There were 16 food processors and eight homestyle and wearable manufacturers among the exhibitors. Seven are from this city, five from each of the provinces of South and North Cotabato, four from Sultan Kudarat, and three from Sarangani.
Apart from physical product sales, Jaugan said they held a five-day online sale via Facebook, which drew over 59,000 viewers.
He claimed that the participants, who were featured in each province, made a total of PHP342,000 in sales.
Yaman Dose was the largest trade show held this year by DTI-12 in collaboration with local government units.
It was the region’s first major physical trade fair since November 2019, when the planned event, dubbed “Treasures of Region 12,” was canceled due to a series of earthquakes that struck the region, and the previous year’s edition was also canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
