This means that you don’t need to buy a heater for your goldfish because they live at room temperature. A good temperature range for them is from 68 to 80 degrees, but they’re fine with that. Even though the temperature changes should not be too fast, they should not be exposed to that kind of thing. Let the filter run for a day or two in the new goldfish tank to get rid of any chemicals or dyes that might be on the gravel and decorations you just put in. It can be hard to wait to buy new fish when you’re a fish owner.

You need to add fish slowly. A fish urinates ammonia. A new fish tank won’t be able to get rid of the fish waste if you add too many at once. As the water in your Goldfish tank gets older, it gets a lot of good bacteria. These bacteria turn harmful chemicals that the fish excrete into harmless ones. However, this will take some time. Start with one fish. The nitrogen cycle will not start until you put fish in the tank, so running an empty tank for a few days will not help. Because your fish tank is new, you might want to think about changing about 25% of the water every few days for the first week or so.

A lot of places sell Goldfish food. It is important to buy some when you get your first fish. Feed a small amount. Especially at first. There will be no room for food that hasn’t been eaten. It will sink to the bottom and die. A lot of people don’t like this. Keep this down. The first few times you feed your fish, pay attention. As the water in your fish tank moves through the nitrogen cycle, you may notice that it looks a lot murkier. In a few days, this will go away. Keep adding fish until the water is clear again. Clearwater will show that the nitrogen cycle is working and that bad chemicals are being changed into good ones.

Remember that Goldfish grow big and need a lot of space. If you want to keep healthy fish in your tank, don’t overcrowd it. If you follow this simple rule, your goldfish tank will be healthy.
