MANILA – Former senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Vice President Leni Robredo, according to Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship and Go Negosyo founder Joey Concepcion, “will be beneficial” for small-scale enterprises.

“Based on the platforms they presented at Go Negosyo’s KandidaTalks conference, both of them understand and prioritize the development of the MSME (micro, small, and medium enterprises) sector,” he said in a statement released Tuesday.

Concepcion stated that whoever wins the presidency, the next administration should target poverty reduction, MSME growth, prosperity, and improved quality of life for everybody.

“The level of poverty in this country is one of the most significant difficulties we confront.” MSMEs must be a primary priority for the next administration if it is to provide wealth to every Filipino, according to President Rodrigo Duterte’s adviser.

During the KandidaTalks forum, Concepcion mentioned both Marcos and Robredo’s plans.

Marcos’ plans for MSMEs, according to him, include allocating a portion of internal revenue allotments to MSMEs, granting tax amnesty to those who have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic, rationalizing taxation for small businesses to encourage them to pay their taxes, and improving MSMEs’ credit ratings.

Robredo’s plans, on the other hand, include a PHP100 billion stimulus package for MSMEs as part of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) recovery program, which includes providing small-scale businesses with special loans to help them prepare for the new normal, improving MSMEs’ access to credit, and integrating them into the government procurement program.

“I am extremely optimistic that if one of them is elected President of the Philippines, it will be excellent news for our small business owners,” Concepcion remarked.
