MANILA – If elected in the May 2022 elections, Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, the standard-bearer of the Aksyon Demokratiko, will advocate for regional representation in the Senate.

Apart from the economic measures that he wants to enact, Domagoso said on Tuesday that he will fight for constitutional revisions to ensure that Filipinos are well represented in the legislative branch.

He believes that under the current system, individuals who are well-known, come from a political family, or have the financial means to run for Senate are more likely to be elected.

“This is my idea, one of the most important proposals in the constitutional amendment process. I will increase the number of senators to 34, with those senators being elected regionally. He claims that his proposed Senate structure will help with budget deliberations because senators will protect the spending of the regions they represent.

According to Domagoso, the country must adapt to the demands of the times in order to properly respond to the needs of the people.
