BRUSSELS, BELGIAN REPUBLICAN. Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg stated on Tuesday that an unprecedented summit of alliance leaders will be held on March 24 to examine Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and NATO’s response.

“On the 24th of March, I have convened an extraordinary Summit at NATO headquarters,” Stoltenberg announced on Twitter.

“We will discuss Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, our unwavering support for Ukraine, and NATO’s deterrence and defense capabilities.”

On the same day, the EU leaders of state and government will meet in Brussels for a two-day summit, which will mark one month since Russia commenced its attack on Ukraine.

“On March 24, US President Joe Biden will attend the EU leaders’ summit in person,” an EU official said on condition of anonymity.

The war between Russia and Ukraine, which began on February 24, has sparked worldwide censure, financial sanctions against Moscow, and an exodus of global companies from Russia.

According to the United Nations, at least 636 people have been killed and 1,125 injured in Ukraine since the conflict began.

However, it has warned that the true toll is likely to be much higher because it has not been able to gain access to places where hostilities have risen.

According to the UN refugee agency, around three million people have fled to neighboring nations.
