MANILA – Due to the warm and humid weather brought by easterlies across Luzon on Wednesday, the weather agency encouraged residents to restrict their outside activities.

“The weather in Luzon will be fair, but humid in the afternoon. Stay inside and limit outside activities,” advised Grace Castaeda of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

If outside activities are unavoidable, Castaeda advises that individuals bring sun protection and dress in light-colored clothing.

“Take a rest and hydrate to avoid the health repercussions of the heat,” she said.

The temperature in Metro Manila and Tuguegarao will hit 35°C, while Legazpi will reach 33°C.

The easterlies continue to be the dominant weather pattern, resulting in hot and humid conditions.

In the afternoon or evening, isolated rain showers are expected.

Castaeda stated, “There is no meteorological disturbance that could damage the country.”

Isolated rainfall and thunderstorms are expected in the Eastern Visayas and Mindanao.

Residents must take preparations against possible flooding and landslides, according to Castaeda.

The temperature could reach 34°C in Zamboanga and Davao, and 33°C in Tacloban.

Winds will be light to moderate, with mild to moderate seas across the archipelago.

The start of the dry season, when rain showers are likely to be considerably reduced and temperatures are expected to rise, was formally declared on March 16 by PAGASA.

The National Weather Service had previously advised the public to take precautions to avoid heat stress and to maximize the daily usage of water for personal and domestic consumption.
