MANILA, Philippines — The National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF ELCAC) thanked Meta for removing nearly 400 Facebook pages affiliated with the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front of the Philippines (CPP-NPA-NDF).

“The effects of this takedown are far-reaching, and they will help slow down our children’s free fall into the deceptive recruitment of the CPP-NPA-NDF, which has offered them as living sacrifices on the altar of the terrorist, Joma Sison, to wage a senseless war that has been going on for the past 53 years, and where the cost in terms of Filipino lives and the progress of our country can no longer be measured,” NTF ELCAC Spokesperson for Sectoral

According to Badoy, the terrorist CPP-NPA-NDF is a well-organized crime organization — the country’s and one of the world’s largest.

“This joining of Facebook’s arms with the NTF ELCAC emphasizes the Truth that terrorism is a crime that knows no borders and that in the fight to end the suffering and destruction caused by terrorists, the international community must stand shoulder to shoulder in combating this scourge to humanity,” she said.

She claims that the CPP has infiltrated campuses, unwary civic organizations, and other communities in Northern America through the International League of Peoples’ Struggle and Bayan USA, as well as other CPP-NPA-NDF fronts including GABRIELA, Anakbayan, MIGRANTE, and League of Filipino Students.

“It’s the same throughout Europe,” Badoy remarked.

She claimed that the CPP-NPA-NDF has used Facebook to incite violence and hatred and that they have “time and time again, with brazen impunity, called for the overthrow of a legitimate government and the ouster of a constitutionally elected President who was given a strong mandate by the Filipino people.”

“They use Facebook to implement their despicable and venomous AOM method (AROUSE, ORGANIZE, MOBILIZE) to sow division among the Filipino people and to teach them to hate and distrust a government that is sincere and effective in its efforts to care for its citizens–especially during a pandemic,” Badoy said.

According to her, Facebook Threat Disruption Director David Agranovich has a “notable” disclosure that the CPP-NPA-NDF sponsored attacks on genuine Facebook websites and pages, promising security from “the very same attacks they carry out.”

“RAKET maliwanag sa Tagalog pa” (In Tagalog, it is a clear racket). “We’re all familiar with the CPP-NPA-NDF modus operandi,” Badoy explained.

The removal of those poisoned pages, she continued, “has advanced us forward in our campaign to end and destroy the terrorist CPP-NPA-NDF.”

“It’s also made the internet a safer, more respectful, and more intelligent place to be in,” she continued.

She said that only the CPP-NPA-NDF fronts will “raise a howl of complaint” in response to the KARAPATAN’s recent removal of over 400 Facebook pages.

“We are optimistic that the collaborative effort we’ve started with our global partners who are like us, relentless in developing a global community more in keeping with who we truly are as a race,” Badoy added.

She asked Filipinos to support the government’s anti-terrorism efforts.

“To truly shelter, protect, and rear a child, it requires a village.” And this whole-of-nation strategy is becoming what it should be: a whole-of-nations approach,” she remarked.

The NTF-ELCAC is “really grateful” to Facebook for “stepping up and dealing a huge blow to these communist terrorists,” according to Badoy.

The United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the Philippines have all designated the CPP-NPA as a terrorist organization.

On June 23, 2021, the Anti-Terrorism Council formally designated the NDF as a terrorist organization, citing it as “an integral and inseparable part” of the CPP-NPA, which was established in April 1973.
