Andanar supports his wife’s candidacy for a Congress party-list seat.
SURIGAO CITY, PHILIPPINES — On Monday, Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar, who also serves as the acting presidential spokesperson, expressed his support for his wife’s party-list congressional campaign.
Alelee Aguilar-Andanar is the first nominee of the nascent Bisaya Gyud (BG) Party-list, whose key thrusts are food security, education, shelter, and security.
Aguilar-Andanar is a full-time entrepreneur in Las Pinas City, as well as the president of a foundation founded by his father, former Mayor Vergel “Nene” Aguilar. Other associated non-government organizations, such as the Philippine Cancer Society, are also receiving her assistance.
I saw Alelee’s passion for Bisayans.) Her heart has been attached to the Bisayans since we got married),” Andanar said, recalling his wife’s pioneer work for youth in the Siargao Islands in the early 2000s.
Alelee’s perseverance, according to the PCOO chief, helped create mini-libraries in barrios where young Bisayans had little to no access to knowledge and literature.
I observed her worry and love for our other Bisayans, therefore hindi na ako nagdalawang isip na suportahan si Alelee (I saw her concern and love for our fellow Bisayans). So when she decided to run, I jumped at the chance to back her up),” he said.
I am convinced that his affection for Bisayans would be matched by quality service to the people.) I believe he possesses the necessary talents and experience to improve the lives of Bisayans and other marginalized groups in our country),” he continued.
Andanar is also pushing the electorate, particularly those from the Visayas and Mindanao areas, to vote for Alelee and the BG Party-list on May 9.
“Supportahan natin si Alelee,” says the narrator. (Let’s support Alelee.) “Our Bisayan vote will not go to waste because he has a Bisayan heart that cares for everyone, not just one Bisayan,” he explained.
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, among others, have stated their support for the group. This was the only party list that the chief executive publicly endorsed.
