MALASIQUI, Pangasinan – The town of Malasiqui is located in the province of Pangasinan Under the Department of Health Center for Health Development Ilocos Region’s Health Facilities Enhancement Program (HFEP), five provincial government-run hospitals in Pangasinan will get PHP4 million worth of equipment (DOH-CHD-1).

Eastern Pangasinan District Hospital, Western Pangasinan District Hospital, Bayambang District Hospital, Mangatarem District Hospital, and Manaoag Community Hospital are among the beneficiaries, according to provincial health office chief Dr. Anna Ma. Teresa de Guzman in a phone interview on Wednesday.

Eastern Pangasinan District Hospital, Western Pangasinan District Hospital, and Bayambang District Hospital will each receive a PHP33,000 tabletop sterilizer, while Mangatarem District Hospital will receive a PHP3.6 million set of generators, according to De Guzman.

She noted that the Manaoag Community Hospital will receive ten mechanical beds with mattresses valued at PHP244,200, two minor instrument sets valued at PHP13,000, a laryngoscope set valued at PHP21,000, and an emergency cart valued at PHP27,200.

According to a resolution of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan authorizing Governor Amado Espino III to sign the deeds of donation on behalf of the province, the equipment can be used primarily and effectively by the province to cater and respond immediately to the health needs of the people, especially in times of calamities and emergencies.

“The Department of Health is the primary government agency that consistently contributes to the upgrading of medical and health-care facilities, and it has expressed its desire to further augment its support to the Pangasinan provincial government’s health-care program through the HEEP,” the resolution stated.

HFEP is the vehicle through which the federal government assists public health care facilities with infrastructure and equipment renovations.
