MANILA – Under President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s upcoming government, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will speed up the distribution of Ayuda (help) via digital means and emphasize the welfare of children, particularly those who are in legal trouble.

Incoming DSWD Secretary Erwin Tulfo praised his predecessor, Secretary Rolando Bautista, for his accomplishments, but said he wants to do more.

Tulfo intends to maintain Bautista’s online platform for giving monetary help to DSWD recipients, which he began and implemented in the provision of social amelioration aid to vulnerable families affected by the Covid-19 outbreak.

In order to provide timely assistance, the organization will continue to collaborate with Malasakit Centers in hospitals.

Marcos also directed Tulfo to put up a recovery program for people who lost their livelihoods as a result of the pandemic, as well as to nurture youngsters through greater welfare programs targeted at developing their potential and other assets.

He said, “Marami ho kasing problema, pati iyong mga (There are many issues, even) juvenile justice.”

In addition, the DSWD seeks to assist in resolving the rising number of teenage pregnancies.

Tulfo stated that he will continue to broadcast and that he intends to obtain a spot in the Presidential Communications Operations Office’s (PCOO) regular news briefings so that he can keep the public informed on DSWD’s progress.

On Monday, Trixie Cruz-Angeles, the next PCOO chief, announced Tulfo’s appointment.

He is Raffy Tulfo’s younger brother, Senator-elect Raffy Tulfo, who rose to prominence as a result of his public service program.
