Frasco offers Muslim Filipinos “inclusive” travel.
As the country’s Muslim community observed Eid’l Adha on Saturday, Christina Frasco, the tourism secretary, promised inclusive and sustainable tourism (Feast of Sacrifice).
Frasco has stated that she will assist in promoting and developing Mindanao as a tourism destination.
She spoke about the difficulties facing the various areas and tourism stakeholders in Mindanao with DOT directors on June 7.
In a statement, she emphasized diversity, sustainability, and social responsibility in the tourism industry. “Our Muslim brothers and sisters may count on the Department to improve possibilities for success and prosperity as we move toward also recognizing lesser-known communities and areas of our great country.”
The head of the DOT for Northern Mindanao, Marie Elaine Unchuan, expressed gratitude to Frasco for promising to draw attention to the area.
“Talagang nakatutok ang lahat (The attention is there), not just from us but from many organizations, in the growth of tourism and attempts to maintain peace. She stated in an interview with the Philippine News Agency that “If opportunities lost in tourism are regained, there will be more income opportunities.” “Kasi alam naman natin na kapag bumaba ang turismo diyan sa isang area at maayos naman, magkakaroon ng income opportunities ‘yung mga tao,” she said.
She continued, “We’re grateful that Sec. Frasco stated that she will assist Mindanao.
Frasco brought up the need for more air and seaports, as well as new routes, during the discussion to provide accessibility for all travelers.
According to Unchuan, her administration gave Frasco a study outlining the infrastructure improvements the area required, including expanding its airport to handle international flights.
While the Department of Transportation is technically responsible for overseeing the airport’s construction, Unchuan noted that his organization also keeps an eye on its progress. “It’s in our best interest in terms of tourism that the airport facility is more advanced and that we can always accept more international flights,”
