According to NEDA, science, technology, and innovation are essential to fostering economic progress.
The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) stated that the multidisciplinary coordination of Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) would catalyze economic growth and tackle global threats and issues.
Foresight planning and innovation were emphasized as essential to the nation’s prosperity, and resilience in NEDA’s response to the ASM resolutions during the 44th Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) held last week.
The focus on foresight that PAGTANAW 2050 places on policymakers are highly timely, as foresight planning helps them to be proactive in recognizing trends, searching for new problems and possibilities, and creating scenarios and plans. As we sail toward the shared vision we aspire for our country, strategic foresight enables us to look beyond administrations, Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Arsenio Balisacan stated.
In order to attain AmBisyon Natin 2040 for the Filipino people, Balisacan stressed the necessity of accelerating and maintaining economic growth.
“In order to make the transition to a high-income economy, we need to be the source of fresh concepts and innovative designs for goods and services of better caliber…
In essence, it’s about fostering an innovative culture across the nation, he said.
The National Innovation Agenda (NIA) 2032 of the National Innovation Council (NIC) and the PAGTANAW 2050, according to Balisacan, both aim to make the nation an innovative, wealthy, archipelagic, and maritime one.
“One of our sources of inspiration for creating the National Innovation Agenda was the PAGTANAW 2050. We also used PAGTANAW 2050’s list of emerging technologies to describe what the future might hold for each of the 10 priority industries listed there, the official said.
The NEDA director also underlined the agency’s dedication to advancing innovation, technology, and science.
“A good place to start is with the creation of the National Innovation Agenda and Strategy Document (NIASD). The National Academy in Science and Technology’s PAGTANAW 2050 resolutions, particularly the adoption of foresight in Science, Technology, and Innovation, has the full support of the NEDA, I’ll say it again.
The 44th ASM, with the subject “PAGTANAW 2050: Agham Tungo sa Mabuting Kinabukasan,” focused on sustainable futures and included scientists and academics from both domestic and foreign institutions.
Indeed, he continued, “We must foster science, technology, and innovation not only to enhance how we conduct business now but also to better prepare us for whatever the future may hold.
The National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), a subsidiary of the Department of Science and Technology, organized the two-day yearly event.
