Users who register their cards in the Beep mobile application will receive free accident insurance from the company that operates the stored value contactless card platform known as the Beep card, which is widely used in public transportation (app).

According to a statement released on Monday by AF Payments Inc. (AFPI), interested users must register their card in the Beep app between September 5 and December 5 to take advantage of the promotion. The app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store, Google Play store, or the Huawei App Gallery.

Users who meet the requirements are entitled to PHP10,000 in life insurance coverage in the event of accidental death, PHP10,000 in the event of total and permanent disability resulting from an accident, up to PHP10,000 in benefit for dismemberment and/or disablement resulting from an accident, and PHP2,000 in benefit for funeral costs.

“The complimentary insurance is only available for one card per account. New Beep cards that are registered in an existing Beep app account also do not qualify, according to AFPI.

Customers will receive their proof of coverage, which includes information on how to claim benefits, in their registered email address. The coverage is valid for one month from the date of registration.

The promotion was created in collaboration with Malayan Insurance, according to AFPI Chief Commercial Officer Sharon Fong, to help “give peace of mind and a sense of security to travelers.”

Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1), Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2), Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3), as well as some buses and other public utility vehicles across the country accept payment by beeping.

Cardholders can monitor their card transactions, check their load balance in real-time, buy QR tickets, load/fetch load for Android phones with NFC, and accrue reward points with the Beep app.
