Over PHP163.03 million in medical aid was distributed by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) to 23,039 eligible beneficiaries nationwide in September.

The state lottery agency stated that the monies were distributed to beneficiaries through the organization’s Medical Access Program, citing the most recent data issued on Wednesday (MAP).

The recipients in Luzon are 6,871 people from the Southern Tagalog and Bicol Region who received PHP37.6 million in aid, 4,962 from Northern and Central Luzon who received PHP36.5 million, and 2,559 poor people from the National Capital Region who received PHP33.9 million in aid.

3,800 people in the Visayas received PHP25.7 million in medical assistance, while 4,847 in Mindanao received PHP29.1 million.

The MAP, formerly known as the Individual Medical Assistance Program, is intended to supplement medical aid for impoverished Filipinos, especially for hospitalization, chemotherapy, dialysis, and post-transplant medications.

Throughout the country, PCSO game profits are used to support the program.
