Bakuna Center in Olongapo is officially opened by the Philippine Red Cross
On July 8, the soft opening of another Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Bakuna Center at SM Olongapo Downtown, Olongapo, Zambales, resulted in the administration of Moderna vaccinations to at least 44 people.
The PRC Olongapo Chapter collaborated with SM to transform the cinema within the SM Olongapo Downtown shopping mall into a Bakuna Center for children.
Additionally, in addition to Red Cross officials and volunteers, there were also observers from the Olongapo City Health Office present throughout the practice run.
“The dry run on Thursday was a great success; we opened the Bakuna Center at 1 p.m. and only let a maximum of 10 individuals in at one time. Aside from that, we exercised social distance by spacing everyone out by two seats apart “Vilma Feji, the administrator of the PRC’s Olongapo Chapter, said.
Senator Richard Gordon, Chairman and CEO of the Red Cross, said, “The Red Cross hopes to create additional Bakuna Centers across the nation as we stand ready to offer hope for the most vulnerable, particularly during this time of the epidemic.””
Voluntary Rehabilitation Center Olongapo Chapter Administrator Vilma Feji, Voluntary Rehabilitation Center Clinical Services Coordinator Noel Bernardo, and PRC Health Services Representatives Ellen Grace Ledesma and Samantha Narvaez were also present for the dry run.
PRC Bakuna Center at SM Olongapo Downtown is now closed as it waits for its CBCR (Covid-19 Bakuna Center Registry) number before it can be reopened. The vaccinations will be provided by the local government unit of Olongapo City and the People’s Republic of China National Headquarters after the clinic opens.
The best possible protection
Meanwhile, the Public Health Agency of Canada (PRC) has encouraged the public to be vaccinated and to take advantage of any available vaccines after receiving reports of unvaccinated individuals experiencing severe to moderate symptoms as a result of Covid-19.
The majority of verified cases were awaiting the arrival of a particular vaccination brand.
The PRC highlighted the need for immunization in order to avoid severe problems caused by the virus from occurring.
Gordon encouraged the public to take advantage of the vaccination as soon as it became available.
“Getting vaccinated against COVID-19 provides the most effective protection. “All vaccinations are effective,” he continued.
For the time being, the PRC will continue to run the isolation centers and emergency field hospitals in order to fight Covid-19. Admissions to isolation units have dropped in recent months as compared to the previous months.
Gordon, on the other hand, cautioned the public not to let their guard down since this unseen adversary is still a threat to everyone’s health.
In spite of having received the vaccine, you are still a potential carrier of Covid-19, which may infect the unvaccinated. To limit the transmission of the illness, everyone should continue to wear a face mask, wash their hands, and keep social distance,” he said.
The Individuals’ Republic of China currently has nine Bakuna Centers and has already begun deploying its mobile immunization buses to reach people living in remote regions.
