If the Philippine government fails to reach its goal of fully vaccinating 77 million people by April, it is considering the third edition of national vaccination days.

On Wednesday, Acting Presidential Spokesperson and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said the administration will need to examine the results of its present “vaccination demand generating” activities.

“[I]f we see the need, halimbawa matatapos na ang first quarter ng 2022 at hindi pa nararating’yong 77 million (for example, if we haven’t reached the targeted 77 million by the end of the first quarter of 2022), then perhaps it’s one of the strategies na i-co-consider natin (that we would consider),” he said in a television interview.

Last year’s three-day mega vaccination drive, which took place from November 29 to December 3, was hailed as a success, with around 9.9 million individuals receiving life-saving coronavirus vaccines.

Despite the problems provided by Typhoon Odette, more than 7.4 million doses were administered during the second cycle, which took place from December 15 to 17.

According to Nograles, the national government is committed to reaching the 77 million target of complete dosages before the elections, which are expected to take place by the end of March.

“This is what we’re striving for,” he stated in Filipino, “to achieve 77 million by the end of the first quarter of 2022, at the very least before the May election, our target is to fully vaccinate the adult population.”

The country had delivered 120.6 million doses and fully vaccinated over 56 million people as of January 18.

According to the Department of Health’s Covid-19 Vaccination Dashboard, the average daily dose in the last seven days was 762,526.

A total of 5,362,518 people have gotten their booster doses among the completely immunized.
