In QC, 570 unvaccinated commuters are given Covid-19 vaccinations.

Since the adoption of the “no vaccination, no ride” policy on Monday, 570 unvaccinated commuters in Quezon City have gotten their first dose of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccine.

Mayor Joy Belmonte said in a statement issued Wednesday night that the city’s law enforcement cluster, led by Task Force Disiplina, has conducted joint operations with the Philippine National Police’s Highway Patrol Group, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, and the Inter-Agency Council for Traffic since the new policy restricting the movement of unvaccinated individuals was implemented.

Commuters who were unable to provide a Covid-19 vaccination card were detained and taken to the Quezon Memorial Circle vaccination site to receive their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, according to her.

Unvaccinated people in need of critical products or services, as well as those with medical issues that prevent them from getting vaccinated, were exempted, according to Belmonte.

Other unvaccinated people who were unwilling to get vaccinated were sent home and ordered to seek a certificate from a licensed physician and their barangay for clearance as proof that they were unable to get vaccinated.

Meanwhile, Task Force Disiplina Action Officer Deck Pelembergo urged unvaccinated commuters to get vaccinated right away.

“Tuluy-tuloy ang ating operations sa mga kalsada tulad ng Commonwealth Avenue kung saan sari-sari ang mga pampublikong sasakyan na dumaraan tulad ng bus, jeepney, at mga UV express dahil ipinapatupad na po natin ang ‘No Vaccine,

Meanwhile, as of Wednesday, 234 out of 1,300 ambulant vendors, market vendors, and employees who have been identified by local government authorities as being unvaccinated received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

Belmonte had previously stated that the city administration would provide PHP2,000 to each ambulant seller, market vendor, and employee as compensation for lost income if they agreed to be immunized between January 8 and January 31.

“We recognize that most vendors cannot take a day off due to a loss of money that would put food on the table for their families,” she explained. “So we decided to present them with an incentive to urge them to get Covid-19 shots.”

The QC Market Development and Administration Department (MDAD), with the help of the Department of Public Order and Safety and the Task Force for Transport and Traffic Management, is compiling a master list of qualifying market or ambulant sellers, or market staff.

Those interested in receiving the incentive must be able to confirm their status as market or ambulant vendors, or market staff, by showing a vending permit, certification from their barangay or respected vendors’ association, and proof of residency in QC via any acceptable ID.
