The Department of Tourism is pushing for all active tourism workers to get fully vaccinated.
The Department of Tourism (DOT) announced on Friday that 75.39 percent of the country’s active tourism employees, or 236,714 people, have been vaccinated against the coronavirus sickness in 2019. (Covid-19).
“We will not stop until all of our active tourism workers are fully vaccinated,” Tourism Secretary Berna Romulo-Puyat said, expressing her delight with the latest figures.
“The Department of Transportation applauds the increased immunization rate across the country, with important destination destinations already having 100 percent coverage.” We appreciate the National Task Force Against Covid-19 (NTF), particularly Chief Implementer and Vaccine Czar Secretary Carlito G. Galvez Jr. and Deputy Chief Implementer Secretary Vince Dizon, as well as the Department of Health (DOH), private stakeholders, and local government units (LGUs) for their unwavering support in protecting our tourism workforce, which is the backbone of our industry, ” she said.
The Department of Transportation began vaccinating active tourism workers in July 2021.
“Now that we’ve achieved high immunization rates in most of our destinations,” Romulo-Puyat stated, “we’re concentrating our efforts on the few remaining regions with low inoculation numbers.”
“This is the Department of Transportation’s commitment to the President’s decision to assist the three-day nationwide simultaneous immunization push “Bayanihan, Bakunahan” on November 29 to December 1, 2021,” she added.
According to DOT data as of November 19, the National Capital Region (NCR) continues to have the highest vaccination coverage for tourism workers, with 99.79 percent, followed by Davao Region (90.11%), Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) (96.79 percent), Central Luzon (95.10 percent), and Eastern Visayas (90.55 percent).
The Department of Transportation’s inoculation efforts to promote the nationwide “Bayanihan, Bakunahan” immunization push will target the Ilocos Region (67.21 percent), Calabarzon (42.70 percent), and Caraga regions (30.43 percent).
