Velasco said the House will keep creating laws to help Filipinos.
Lord Allan Velasco, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, stated on Friday that the House will continue to carry out its mandate of crafting significant laws that will improve the lives of all Filipinos.
Velasco noted in his New Year address that the 18th Congress passed more than 130 laws, including the National Covid-19 Vaccination Program Act and the 2022 General Appropriations Act, which President Rodrigo Duterte recently signed into law.
“As we approach the end of the year, we are grateful for the ongoing blessings our country has received, and we send our heartfelt thoughts to those who have suffered, whether from sickness or natural disasters like Typhoon Odette. Rest certain that every member of the House of Representatives is doing all possible to assist our afflicted constituents “he stated
He urged everyone to be watchful and build on the momentum so that improvements may be made in 2022 that will “take us farther toward recovery, resilience, and prosperity.”
“We’ve come a long way since last year when the outbreak of Covid-19 infections seemed hopeless. As more individuals are vaccinated, the number of cases has decreased to a reasonable level, allowing our economy to open up and allowing us to enjoy less restrictive social and economic conditions “he stated
He also stated his hopes for a free, peaceful, and orderly election in May 2022, while cautioning against any acts of violence related to the next elections.
“The country’s voting process must be free of the culture of violence that has characterized it. Everyone has to be reminded that violence is not an acceptable or desirable method of political action. What matters is the battle over issues, the exercise of one’s civil responsibility, and the declaration of one’s preference through the ballot box “he stated
For his part, Majority Leader Martin Romualdez wished for a brighter year for all Filipino families in the next year.
“The year 2021 may be harsh to some of us who have lost loved ones as a result of Covid-19’s global health emergency. Our Visayan and Mindanao brothers and sisters have yet to fully recover from the destruction caused by Typhoon Odette. However, I have reason to believe that in the year 2022, we will all have a brighter future “”Says Romualdez.”
