MANILA, Philippines — On Tuesday, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) implemented a 100-percent onsite work capacity in all of its offices in the National Capital Region (NCR) and other Alert Level 1 district.

Commissioner Jaime Morente stated in a statement that strict health measures will be followed, including the use of a face mask and physical separation of all authorities and staff.

While fully vaccinated individuals will be permitted entrance, those who are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated must still make appointments using the bureau’s online appointment system, according to him.

“The public may be guaranteed that the BI’s services will not be affected while we adapt to the new normal,” the BI chief continued.

At the same time, he stated that work-from-home will no longer be used as an alternate work arrangement for his staff.

All BI workers, regardless of age or comorbidities, are now compelled to report to work.

On weekdays, the bureau is open from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., except on holidays.

Other BI offices in locations with different alert levels will continue to operate according to their current on-site work capacities, according to Morente.

They must also continue to wear face masks while on duty, wash their hands frequently, and avoid needless movements and close contact with coworkers.

The disinfecting of BI workstations shall be maintained on a regular basis.
