Robredo’s major activities include maritime sector development.
MANILA, Philippines — If Vice President Leni Robredo wins the presidency, she will prioritize improvements in the marine industry and the lives of sailors.
“Ang isa sa mga flagship programs ko, pag ako ay naging pangulo, ay asikasuhin ‘yung marine industry,” says the speaker. At sa pag-asikaso ng maritime industry natin, nandun rin ‘yung pag asikaso ng ating mga seamen (If I am elected president, one of my flagship projects will be to develop the maritime sector.) In doing so, I’ll be paying attention to the concerns of sailors),” Robredo said in a statement released on Sunday.
The Vice President also dismissed “false news” that she was disparaging the country’s sailors.
Some internet users appear to have manipulated a video of Robredo during a presidential debate to make it appear as if she was disparaging the abilities of sailors.
She then urged young people, dubbed “digital natives,” to counteract the purported lies spread by disinformation spreaders.
She claimed that young people with access to information can refute the falsehoods spread on social media by her opponents, who reportedly manipulated her statements to cast her in a negative light.
“Ang problema po, dahil sa social media,’yung mga sinasabi natin, binabaliktad para akalain ng tao kung wala tayong maayos na programa para sa kanila,” Robredo said at a recent campaign rally in Naval, Biliran.
She stated that young people must combat fake news in order for the truth to triumph.
“Mga kabataan, mga digital natives, karamihan po sa inyo… Ano ‘yong kasinungalingan, ano ‘yung katotohanan, alam niyo. Ang laging mamamayani, katotohanan, kaya dapat ipaglaban natin na ang laging mamamayani, katotohanan. You know the difference between a lie and the truth. As a result, we must always struggle to ensure that the truth triumphs),” Robredo stated.
She stated that what she intended to express was that because mariners were skilled, they had a lot of chances, so they needed help with skills training so they could earn more money.
Senator Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes, who is running for Senate under the Robredo-Pangilinan ticket, claims that millennials are fighting back and engaging the “well-paid trolls of the other camp.”
He claims that people in the education sector, including teachers and students, are combating lies with the truth.
