The Air Force is assisting with the ‘Agaton’ relief efforts.

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Air Force (PAF) said on Wednesday that its Tactical Operations Group (TOG) 8 is assisting in continuing humanitarian and disaster relief missions in areas affected by Tropical Depression Agaton.

“Personnel and equipment are being fielded by Tactical Operations Group 8, which is in the thick of it all. The PAF is awaiting job assignment from the DRRMC (Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council) “Col. Maynard Mariano, a spokeswoman for the Air Force, said

TOG 8, based in Tacloban, is the PAF unit in charge of the provinces of Samar and Leyte.

Mariano replied that an initial six helicopters can be dispatched to the affected areas when asked how many aircraft the PAF is involved in the relief operations.

“In terms of fielding, the A-3 (PAF operations) continues to draw resources from other sectors. Four ‘Black Hawks’ (S-70i) and two Bell 412s (combat utility helicopters) will be ready right away, based on previous experience “Added him.

Meanwhile, Col. Jean Fajardo of the Philippine National Police announced that roughly 1,000 police officers had been dispatched to assist in the ongoing relief efforts for “Agaton.”

She went on to say that these PNP members are assisting in the continuing search-and-rescue efforts in the impacted areas.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) previously revealed that the number of barangays affected by “Agaton” had risen to 924 across Muslim Mindanao’s Regions 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (BARMM).

Affected families number 213,327, or 580,876 people.

The number of activated evacuation facilities has grown to 348, housing 13,788 people, while the rest are being helped outside and sheltered by their families and friends, according to the NDRRMC.

Houses that were damaged were located at 341 in Regions 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, and Caraga.

322 of these are categorized as “mostly damaged,” while 19 are rated as “completely ruined.”
