MANILA, Philippines — The National Vaccination Operations Center (NVOC) said on Saturday that more than 63 million Filipinos had been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, with 663,384 children aged 5 to 11 receiving the first dose.

Myrna Cabotaje, NVOC chair and Health Undersecretary, noted that fully vaccinated Filipinos account for 70% of the government’s 90 million population objective and 80% of the entire population.

By March, the government hopes to have fully vaccinated at least 70 million Filipinos, with 90 million by June.

Approximately 9.7 million people have received booster or additional doses as well.

Secretary of the National Task Force From Covid-19 Carlito Galvez Jr. previously stated that one of the immediate concerns is ensuring that the vulnerable sector is adequately protected against Covid-19 infection.

Galvez stated in recent research that just 69.31% of the senior population has received at least two doses.

“We’ll keep focusing on the remaining three million seniors, as well as those with comorbidities,” he stated.

Galvez stated that the house-to-house Covid-19 vaccination program will be improved in order to reach more vaccines.

Some local government units provide transportation to inoculation sites for senior residents and those with comorbidities.

As of February 18, the country had received 224,823,360 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, both purchased and donated.
